For Bill

When I was in High School, I discovered that my peers didn't know the story of Apollo 13. It was life-changing when I realized the story wasn't common knowledge, and that many didn't even know the astronauts made it home. All these fictional movies and stories about the journey home, and the one that mattered, the one that was true, wasn't even on people's radar. I never understood how it could resonate so much with me and not with everyone else.

I've loved the actors of Apollo 13 for bringing the story to life for a 90s kid like me, so the loss of Bill Paxton leaves me feeling very empty. I've followed his career ever since, and he was an amazing actor that will be hugely missed. I can't put into words how I am feeling, but all I know is my inner space nerd is crying. The theme song has never felt like such a dirge.

Bill, it's been a pleasure flying with you.
